week 5: overcome
Originally, this post was going to be about the birth of Christ and the nativity story, but no matter how hard I tried to write it and tie it all together, I couldn't do it! After some frustration, I felt impressed that I needed to write it about something I would hear at Stake Conference, so I scrapped my other draft. I just got back, and fortunately, I was indeed able to gain some great insights about our Savior!
The theme was about overcoming through Christ. During one of the talks, I was flipping through my scriptures, and came across D&C 50:41-42.
41 Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me;
42 And none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost.
I think that is so beautiful. Christ has already overcome, in every sense of the word. He has overcome death, pain, sickness, heartache, anxiety, depression, loneliness, all. Each day, I am in the process of overcoming, but I can't do it without the Savior.
With Christ, we can overcome any tragedy, any sin, any temptation, any fear, any bad day, as long as we rely on Him. He is my Savior, and he is your Savior. We can live with more joy and with more hope, all because of his sacrifice, and his infinite love for us.
