week 6: charity
Hey guys! I honor of Valentine's Day being this week, I wanted to share some thoughts about the pure love of Christ. <3
This week my Stake President sent out an email to all the Relief Society sisters wishing us a happy holiday, and he said something so sweet. He said, "My hope for all of you incredible sisters is that you will feel loved by the One that matters most." That is of course, Jesus Christ.
Our Savior, loves us perfectly and infinitely. I was reading in the Book of Mormon a few days ago, in Moroni 7. That chapter has some of the most beautiful verses about charity being the pure love of Christ:
46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—
47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
I've read those scriptures several times, but this last time, in verse 46, I replaced the word "charity" with the name of the Savior. It took on a whole new meaning for me: "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not Christ, ye are nothing, for He never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto Christ, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail."
Christ is love. We cannot fathom how much he loves and cares for us. Without Him, we are nothing. He is the one who enables us to be forgiven when we fall short, to find peace when we are anxious, to find hope when we are fearful, to be comforted when we are broken, and to feel loved when we are alone.
I am so grateful for Him, and during this Valentine's week, I hope you, too, "feel loved by the One that matters most." <3
